    1. LOVE this! star rating

LOVE this machine! I've had the cuttlebug and big shot machines but this is my favorite. It takes up a small amount of space for the size of it and it cuts beautifully. Adding extra pressure to the more intricate dies is fantastic. Both my other machines lost pressure in the middle after a while and my dies were not cutting correctly. I don't think I'll even need another machine again.

I love the fact that you don't have to worry about what "sandwich" to use! The pressure control dial is a Wonderful feature.

What makes this die cutting machine unique is that there is no need to figure out what sandwich combo is needed for each die you are cutting. Just send it through the machine and adjust the tension with the wheel as needed...couldn't be easier!

    4. So happy with the die cutting machine!! star rating

This machine can cut through anything! I have a lot of intricate dies requiring a cutting machine which applies even pressure. The Big Sister can do this!! With the adjustable pressure you can cut very thin paper of thick cardstock without difficulty. I prefer a manual die cutting machine with adjustable pressure over an electronic machine because you Can apply variable pressure depending on the degree of cutting difficulty.

I only wish that I had bought this gem long ago. It is so easy for me to use. Dies that I used to have trouble cutting now are a breeze! Thank you for putting so much thought into the engineering if this lovely machine.

I was attracted to the Big Sister primarily because of the metal gearing & the pressure-control dial on it. My old die cutting machine (I believe) had plastic parts inside, and didn't seem that durable. Even though it hadn't broken--yet--I went ahead & got the Big Sister. And have not regretted it for a minute! I like the size of the Big Sister, since I can die cut several things at once, or even use larger embossing folders, if I use the full-size platform that I got as a substitute to the extended platform. It seems to be a very sturdy machine, and while I wouldn't want to put it to the test by dropping it or anything, it has held up well thus far to lots of die cutting. I don't know if the gearing makes a difference in how much effort it takes to crank the handle, since I've only ever used one other brand of machine. But I can say, it is no harder than my old machine, and I don't have any problems cranking anything through. I also like that I don't have to figure out what "sandwich" to use. It's the base plate, your paper & die or embossing folder, and the cutting plate. That's it. Any adjustments can be made with the pressure-control dial. A shim may be handy for intricate dies, but the Hot Spot Helper that comes with the machine helps with that as well.

The only issue I've had is that, with the thicker cutting plate, the suggested settings for the pressure dial that are listed in the manual are not correct. I did contact Customer Service, and we figured out that, since those settings were based on their older Crossover machine, specs may have changed with the Big Sister. I also think the thickness of the cutting plate plays into it. With the thicker plate that came with the machine, I was unable to run embossing folders through, even on the "loosest" dial setting. When I got a thinner plate, I was able to emboss with no problem. So, just be aware, and if you are going to be using embossing folders, you will need a thinner plate. I still highly recommend the Big Sister as a high-quality machine, and the customer service department at Cheery Lynn is awesome!
